Jim Pattillo, litigation partner with Norman, Wood, Kendrick, & Turner in Birmingham, Alabama, obtained a defense verdict in Fayette County, Alabama. This was the first civil jury trial in Fayette County in over nine years.
Mr. Pattillo defended a warrant officer in the Alabama National Guard who the plaintiff accused of causing significant foot and shoulder injuries as the result of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on a rural Alabama Highway. Mr. Pattillo was able to obtain a pre-trial ruling that the plaintiff was not entitled to medical expenses because the plaintiff did not present substantial evidence that they were caused by the accident. The jury deliberated for 15 minutes before returning a complete defense verdict.
Mr. Pattillo is an active DRI leader, serving on several committees and the ALI Task Force. He is a past chair of the DRI Young Lawyers Committee.
